Prepare for (small-scale) battle!
Students work in teams to design and build customised accessories for a robot’s performance in a battle-style arena. They will explore how different materials, components, and construction methods could meet their goals. As they brainstorm and create, students investigate and select suitable tools, materials, and processes to construct their solutions, documenting their thinking through annotated sketches. They generate, test, and iterate their designs while observing how each prototype performs in practice, then make evidence based decisions to improve strength, balance, or strategic advantage. Throughout the activity, students use both manual and digital tools to develop and communicate their ideas and build skills to support one another in a competitive environment.
